Where Royalty Stays...
Our Royal Swans, Pa and Gram, enjoy the attention they receive as part of our Houston Embassy Suites Family. As they gently glide through the beautiful, lush and serene setting of our lobby we are reminded they were once pets of the royal family home. There, they were protected from their natural enemies and we continue to carry on that tradition. Our caring associates affectionately named our swans after our owners' parents and every year, on March 13th, enjoy celebrating their birthday. We invite you to meet Pa and Gram, and join in our daily swan feedings in the beauty of their oasis.
In the heart of downtown Houston, Bayou Place Entertainment Complex is a large multilevel building that is home to full service restaurants, pubs, live music, billiards, multiple theatres and art house films. The Houston Verizon Wireless Theater stages a variety of live concerts and the eight-screen Angelika Theater presents the latest in art, foreign and independent films.
Six Flags Astroworld is filled with breathtaking rides, as well as an area dedicated to youngsters called Looney Tunes Town. WaterWorld, a 15-acre park next door to AstroWorld, features the Big Kahuna, a family raft ride, and Hook’s Lagoon, an interactive tree house for kids. Six Flags AstroWorld and WaterWorld open for the summer in March and are located at Loop 610 and Kirby Drive, near the Reliant Astrodome.
Lush foliage and tropical flowers set the stage for “Zooperb” fun at the Houston Zoo, a living “museum” in the Museum District. The new John P. McGovern Children’s Zoo recreates the six ecosystems of Texas: city, forest, coastal, prairie, desert and farm. Located in Hermann Park, the zoo also features a gift shop for unique souvenirs.
The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum works to educate the public about the contribution of Africa-American soldiers toward the development and protection of the United States. The soldiers were nicknamed “Buffalo Soldiers” by the Cheyenne Indians who admired the men for their fierce fighting ability. The museum charts their accomplishments from the Revolutionary War to present day battles.
